Mid-season Events

My First Swing of a Bat!!

This past week saw the midway point of the MLB season. Official events such as the All Star game and the Home Run derby were competed in, with the National league stars and the American league stars going face to face on both days.
But this wasn't the only yearly event that took place at this mid season point. Every year the Brewers front office take part in a slow pitch softball tournament, which is ran and played by the employees. The event took place on Thursday 15Th July at mid day. I was place on the blue crew team, keeping in mind I had never swung a bat in my life, nor had I held a glove...this was most certainly going to be an interesting event. At first I was a bit skeptical about the situation, but once the game had got started I was beginning to enjoy myself. Out of the four times I step out to bat, I only struck out once, which as a debut is pretty impressive. My first swing of a bat I received my first RBI, which in myn and everyone elses eyes isn't a bad stat!
Overall the event was a success, the sunshine was out and everyone was enjoying the atmosphere, food and beverages.

But this wasn't the only event us interns took part in this week. Yesterday, Tuesday 21st July we had our intern luncheon, which included a meal, raffle and speeches from Brewers executives. I was not aware how nice the event was going to be. It took place in the Nyce club, located on the club level of Miller park, usually used for private parties during or even outside of games. The food was very dapper and the dress code seemed to be very smart (something I was not informed on). I felt it was very nice of the Brewers to put on such a nice event to show their appreciation for their interns. During the lunch we managed to gain insightful feedback from a few executives and opportunities to win Brewers merchandise. Although is was a great event, the fact we had to stand up and introduce ourselves in front of 50 other interns was fairly nerve racking. But apart from that I enjoyed every second of the intern luncheon.

Overall I feel this last week has been full of interesting and enjoyable events which gave me another insight into the Brewers front offices, and I continue to learn more.
