My First Week as an Intern

Getting A feel for things...

First of all I will enlighten you on how I received the intern, and the process I went through of applying for the position at the Brewers. Around February time of my 3rd spring semester at Stritch I received an accumulative email, which was sent to everyone in the sport management program at Stritch. It scripted a possible ticket sales internship with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Well every email that contains this attire, I attempt to apply for. So I sent off my resume cover email, with a cover letter and my resume to Jess Brown who is the manager of ticket services and technology. I received a quick response offering me an interview at Miller Park (Brewers home ground). So shortly before I flew off to San Francisco for my spring vacation I interviewed in front of Jess, Chad Olson (Ticket Operations Manager) and Tom Carter (Ticket Fulfillment and Distribution). I responded to many questions, and felt I pertained a positive image, thankfully I was correct, all three were pleased with my interview and called me back to offer me the summer intern position, too which I accepted with no hesitation.

On my first day, Thursday 05/13 it was more of a 'get a feel for it' day. I went through my own personal folder which contained this seasons promotions, ground information and other useful paperwork knowledge. I also went out to the booths where I viewed the activities in the Ticket booths and asked questions on the regular procedure out in the booths. I didn't start getting into internship jobs until the following week starting 05/17, we sent out group ticket packages and reviewed more required information, including promotions. The information, such as; typical questions and promotion details is good to learn, as on game days we will be outside answering customers questions and needs, which to me is an exciting prospect as my experience lacks in game day baseball experience.
We also went up to the human resources department to fill out paperwork, such as agreement on regulations in the MLB, in terms of confidentiality and diverting away from publicly addressing information we may have learnt. We received our door passes and will soon be receiving our car park passes.
I keep saying we, and by we I mean me and the other intern. There is two of us, myself from Cardinal Stritch and a marketing major from UW Madison, both of us named Mike. I feel I can speak for both of us when I say, just in these two days, we have learnt a lot and we are very much looking forward to our time here in the summer.
